Hi all,

I just built a new computer last night (first time) and I'm running into one problem starting it up. This is what I have.

ASPIRE X-Dreamer II ATXB4KLW-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 420W Power Supply
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice Integrated into Chip FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor
ASUS A8V DELUXE Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro ATX AMD Motherboard
1GB OCZ Gold VX 3200 RAM
NVIDIA 6800 AGP Graphics card
80 and 250GB WD Hard drives, one on master one on slave.

I have everything set up correctly to the best of my knowledge from reading the manual. The manual says that the first time you start up, it will do a power check and the system speaker will beep for about 30 seconds and if it continues after that, something is wrong.

It beeped for more than 30 seconds and there's no response from the monitor (of course it's getting a signal because when i unplug the monitor from the computer it says no input signal). I later found out that the nvidia card is bad, so I'm going to put another video card in and try it.

yet another update.

I put in my other graphics card, which I know works, and started up the computer. when i turned on the power switch on the back, all three keyboard lights flashed once. however, when i turn the computer on, I get no response from the mouse, keyboard or output from the computer to the monitor.

should i reset the CMOS settings (by changing the jumper settings and removing the battery) since the computer was initially booted up with a defunct graphics card?

Reinstall all the components making sure your motherboard is not shorting out to chassis. Plus make sure all connecions are connected. Ram is seated properly etc.....
