I have come to my wits end with this. We have a new server (windows
2003) that we're trying to add to our Windows 2000 domain. I have
tried, with DCPROMO, to join the server to the domain. It says I have
to run ADPREP /ForestPrep first. I tried that. It failed (on the 2003
server) so I ran this on the 2000 DC. Now it says there are files
missing (I found the SCHEMA.INI listed in the log file but there are 3
other files that do not exist on the 2000 server.)
What am I missing here? Should it BE this hard to join a 2003 server?
Eventually I want to demote the older DC to be a BDC and a VPN server
and let this 2003 box take over as the DC.
Any help is appreciates!
