My i3 2100 on a Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2V-B3 has been running hot on the stock cooler due to a broken push pin (damn you stock intel cooler!) and I wanted to see how low i can get the vcore to stay stable at load, see if that helps with temperatures.

The motherboard's BIOS allows me to adjust Dynamic Vcore (DVID) up to about -0.300V, but regardless of what setting I choose for it CPU-Z reports 1.044V under stress loads such as prime95 and AIDA64.

Is the vcore actually changing when I change the setting? Is the problem on the side of CPU-Z not recognizing the change, or is the setting I apply not working? And if it is, how can I fix that?

In my opinion you would be much better off just replacing the broken stock cooler. Grab a Cooler master 212 evo or Cryorig h7, or something along those lines and save yourself the hassle of having any issues in the future.
