Hey all,

I am looking to upgrade my graphics for my current system and am looking for some opinions/guidance. I am currently running a 1 GB GDDR5 GTX 550 Ti on an Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2 Mobo with 16 GB mem and an 850 W PS.

I am wanting to set the new card up with a triple 24" display configuration, so any recommendations on nice gaming monitors would be nice as well. I am trying to stay in the $250-$300 price range for the GPU (not including monitors). I have looked at many options so far (R9 270-290, GTX 970, 750 Ti, etc) but am looking for some other opinions, or hands on experience with the cards, that any of you can provide.

Thanks!

STRIX 970 is pretty much the better choice then. The multi-monitor and surround lays with Nvidia and its drivers not the 3rd party developers. But Asus`s STRIX ranges is really good so if you can afford it then do it now...
The card I have now would be reference I guess, coming from Nvidia itself. So when I am looking at the 970's I am not sure who I should go with in terms of manufacture. They all seem to have pros and cons I suppose, I was a little more partial towards the Asus models. I watched some videos on Eyefinity and was very impressed by how easy it was to group monitors together, but when I read reviews on Nvidia Surround it seemed like it was a little more picky about how things are done. Is that really accurate?

I read a review a long while back about "Bulldozer" and I thought that it was some function between using AMD based cards along with AMD boards and CPU's to get a performance boost, but I am also not sure if that is accurate, or if it even applies with my older CPU. Any thoughts?

If you run all AMD they all conform with eachothers architectures as they compliment each other. But adding a Nvidia GPU in an AMD environment will not affect the entire system`s performance. If there is a diff it should be in the low ones %. But I could be wrong. Thats just the theory...

Cool, I guess I will pick up the STRIX then. I found it for $330 which isn't bad, plus it looks slick. If I could trouble you for your opinion one more time...I am debating between 3 monitors.

I like Acer as a brand, but I feel like the Lenovo looks nicer. I want to set it up as a triple setup so I figured the Lenovo bezel looked a little slimmer as well. What do you think? Or do you by chance have any other options you can think of off the top of your head?

That is true the response time is a subjective thing... The, I would then rather go for something with a =/< 5ms time. Just in case you do see it and you have regrets later but that is`nt suppose to be a prob. The contrast ratio is also just a braging rights thing in my opinion. I had a monitor with a 50 000:1 ratio and I did`nt even notice...
