I just got my new system up and running and I LOVE it!!
P4C800 - BIOS Rev 1006
P4 2.6 GHz 800
1 GB Corsair PC3200 DDR400
Here's my issue though. I have 6 IDE devices total as follows.
80 GB HDD 7200 RPM 8 MB Cache (C for MAIN OS
30 GB HDD 7200 RPM 2 MB Cache (D for Games
150 GB HDD #1 for data
150 GB HDD #2 for data
Kenwood CDR 52x
SOny 52x CDRW
Currently the 80 GB HDD is my Primary Master, the 40 GB HDD is my Primary Slave. The Kenwood CDR is my Secondary Master, and the CDRW is my Seconday Slave.
I was HOPING (from reading the manual) that I would be able to use the built on PROMISE RAID controller as a simple PATA IDE chanel. In the BIOS, I set the controller to IDE (instead of RAID). However, when I boot up, the disks are n't identified. THey aren't identified in the BIOS either. I then got into windows, installed the drivers (no question marks in system manager) and rebooted. Windows XP Pro does not identify any drives either in the Drive Manager.
Am I misunderstanding the Promise Controller, if the IDE option is not for this, what is it for than? Does it have somethign to do with the SATA chanels?
And finally, is there ANY way I can use my 2 150 GB HDD's with the built on controller WITHOUT RAIDING them? I already got 2 drives FULL of data I don't want to loose.
THANKS!!!
