Help!! Vga not working

Heya, i bought a vga cable to connect my Samsung laptop to my konka TV. I had tried a hdmi as I know it is more efficient but it didn't work . So vga but still no signal. 3 hours of my life gone, tried resolution changes checked the setting connect on TV is on pc mode. Nothing help I'm going crazy....
