hello,

I would really like to know if there is a wifi adapter that can save a wifi password without a computer and then i could just use the ether net cable through it because im using my laptop to give my ps4 internet through the lan cable but i dont want to leave my laptop on all the time so i was hoping if there was an adpater that i can plug in my laptop save the networks information on it and then just connect it to power and the Lan cable.

Hope you guys understood what i meant

Thank you

Christopher

You might want to try and explain your situation again..........I'm not understanding your question to be honest.

Your PS4 is connected to your laptop? It sounds to me like your solution would be to simply attach your ethernet cable to your laptop, but I'm sure your situation is not as simple as that.

The idea is my ps4 is connected to my laptop and the connection is bridge and is working perfectly but since i game for like 8 to 12 hours at a time i dont really want to keep my laptop ON for that long so i was thinking if their was any wifi receiver or adapter that i could save the access pont information on it and it wouldnt need a laptop.
that way it could act as an extension from my ps4 .
basically the device would be connected to the internet all by it self without a laptop and it would be sending the connection through the LAN cable to my ps4

You want a device, capable of providing internet to your PSU via LAN cable? That's a router. Considering you're connected to Wifi, you have one.

If you want something to take a Wifi signal (like your laptop is doing) and pass it via ethernet to your PS4, you'd be just as well connecting the PS4 to wifi? The ethernet aspect won't improve your internet speed, as the laptop can only provide as stable a connection as it's picking up over Wifi?

I dont want to improve my internet speed because it is already too low at a max download of 256kb/s and upload of 50kb/s any device now can handle that speed without degrading it but what I'm asking is is there a device that just connects to wifi and gives that connection to my PS4 through the LAN cable i have been checking wifi extenders and wifi hotspots but none of them seem to connect to the connection all by them selves and none of them seem to save the connections credentials.

1-so this device will lets say connect to my laptop Ill set up the connection that i want it to connect to.
2-then all I need is to plug it into the electricity what ever form it might want if thats through a USB cable or a wall plug etc
3-plug my LAN cable and done Ill have internet to my ps4

Hope that helped

And thank you guys for taking the time to answer

To help understand better, please explain why you'd want to do this.

What you're describing is running your ethernet cable from your router to your PS4 in a round-about way.

Is there some reason you can't connect your router to your PS4?

I'm assuming perhaps the router is nowhere near your PS4, and that's why? In that case, a Wifi extender is the only think I can think of.

Something like:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/netgear-universal-wi-fi-range-extender-with-ethernet-port-white/2733324.p?id=1218349687077

It's a one click on the router, one on the extender & it's connected (and will remain so). You can then run your ethernet cable to your PSU.

By the time you've done that though, you'd be just as well connecting your PS4 over Wifi (as the ethernet cable is only passing along a Wifi-strength signal, not an ethernet strength/consistency) - is there any reason you can't just do that?

This is definitely going to need a better explanation of the situation. As it stands, it just sounds like a waste of money buying a piece of hardware for results that can be achieved with what you have already.

okay, so the what im running with now is that my ps4 is in my room the router is in my dads shop witch i can only connect to from my living room so what i do is i use a lan cable from my laptop witch has a wifi adapter to increase the signal radius so it can actually connect to the stores wifi than i connect it to my ps4 and there is now way i can connect my ps4 to the wifi from the router in my dads shop again due to the distance.

I tried an extender this one to be exact http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Extender-Essentials-EX2700/dp/B00L0YLRUW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463033454&sr=8-1&keywords=netgear+extender+wifi

but it wouldn't connect properly due to the distance so my best hope is a standalone wifi adapter that can connect to the wifi and give my ps4 the connection through the lan cable since thats the only way.

Because I play for long periods of time and i don't really feel comfortable leaving my laptop on for that amount of time since it is an old laptop.

so I hope this explains the entire situation.

Ok, that makes it a bit easier to understand.

A Wifi extender/repeater can definitely be used, it's a matter of establishing the best one suited to your situation.
What's the make/model of the router? What Wifi standard? Same info required for your laptop.

We need to establish why your laptop is able to connect given the distance, but that particular adapter is not.

Another option for consideration, is Powerline adapters (provided your dads shop is on wired together with your house/flat and not independent of).

What is powerline/how does it work: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/feature/network-wifi/what-is-powerline-3491484/
Essentially is uses your electrical wiring in place of ethernet cables initially. You attach one adapter to the router & wall, and the other in the room you want - then you can wire to your devices. It's much like simply having ethernet running to whichever room you put the second adapter in.

Not 100% sure where you're located, but use of 'shop', I'll guess UK for now.

THat's one of the better budget ones, ranks #2 from PCAdvisor.
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/network-wifi/18-best-powerline-adapters-2016-uk-3490638/

36GBP gets you both the required adapters.

Apparently allows you to have a Wifi hotspot from it too (from the review) but no mention in the ad.

My laptop is capable of connecting because I'm using an adapter this one http://www.amazon.com/Alfa-AWUS036NH-802-11g-Wireless-Long-Range/dp/B003YIFHJY/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463083115&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=alpfa+wifi+adapter

It has really good range and connects perfectly and no my dads shop is across the street in another building.

And im in lebanon, beirut, middle east.

but a repeater is like an extender it still has limited range and I highly doubt any of the ones available can get the connection the Alfa AWUS036NH can but the powerline adapter seems like a really good innovation too bad its none applicable in my situation.
