Hello, im looking to upgrade my pc build but im having a hard time choosing between an i5 7600 or i7 7700, main purpose being gaming but i also really dont want to upgrade my cpu in a long time (4+ years).
At the moment my upgraded build looks like this:

(gpu already installed)

I know the i7 cpu is clearly unbalanced with my current gpu, but i bought the gpu recently (didnt expect to have cash leftover for a significant cpu upgrade) and dont want to get rid of it right away, since where i live its not really possible to resell pc components (havent found a reliable platform). Although ill most likely upgrade it in the future.

PS The difference in price between the cpu's in here is around $114 USD (i7 $400 and i5 $290)
PS2 my main goal is to buy a cpu for gaming which i wont have to upgrade in a really long time
PS3 Im not considering k processors because the difference in price with the cooler and motherboard i'd have to buy in here is way too much for my budget
PS4 My current cpu is pretty bad (a8 7600) so i really need an upgrade

Solution
Go with the i7 7700. If you're looking for longevity and power, the i7 will benefit you more than the i5. The fact that it has 8 threads will help as games will be optimized in the future to use more than just 2 or 4 cores. It will work very well in your upgraded PC.
