I'm building a new PC, and I'm stuck on the CPU and MB. I can't decide between a Ryzen 5 and a i5-7500

I'm going to be gaming/developing on this system and I need an NVIDIA card for CUDA.
The only reason I'm reluctant about using AMD is because I've never owned an AMD PC and most of the motherboards with 2 GPU slots have mixed reviews. The reason I'm considering the the Ryzen is because of this post.

I'm currently looking into the GIGABYTE GA-AX370-Gaming K5 if I do go with AMD.

Any input would be great.
