Hey guys,

I’m new to game pc industry and need some help with my first build my budget is around €1000 or 1100 usd. Only going to use it for playing games like apex legends, destiny, warframe etc. I already got some advice and picked some parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vsP7D2
Could you guys take a look and advice me on this? Thanks

Looks pretty good actually.
However I would definitely up your RAM to 3200 speeds. Ryzen loves faster RAM and 3200 seems to be the sweet spot for price to performance.

How much are you paying for the motherboard?
Also buy Microsoft through another third party, you can pick up legal keys for pennies nowadays. save yourself the extra 70$

which country is it?
I will get 3600 + 5700 if possible. 580 is not gonna cut it if you want to go for 100+ FPS.

I’m from the netherlands, I know the 5700 is the better choice but it will cost me about €200 more. I only played console before this so I’m not used to much, the big question is will the 580 be good enough for this midrange build?

A friend (definitly not an expert) told me my mobo doesn’t support 3200, could you check if this is true? The msi b450 tomahawk max goes for €109

This is incorrect:

1866/ 2133/ 2400/ 2667Mhz (by JEDEC)
For AMD Ryzen Gen3 (R5/R7/R9)
2667/2800/2933/3000/3066/3200/3466/3600/3733/3866/4000/4133 by A-XMP OC mode

For AMD Other CPU
2667/2800/2933/3000/3066/3200/3466 by A-XMP OC mode

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX/Specification

Also if it didn't, the option would be to buy a MB that could, and get 3200, not the other way around! Ryzen loves faster speed.

My take with 1000 euros:

Ok thanks a lot

What if i take the middle road and go for a 1660 ti is that worth it?
The difference in cost is close to the difference in performance with the 1660Ti being 30% cheaper but also ~30% slower at 2560x1440 resolution.
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1660-ti-turing,6002-3.html
You will have to look at each game benchmarked and find the corresponding one on the other benchmark. The biggest issue with the 1660Ti is the 6GB of RAM on it. At higher resolutions and in newer AAA titles that is going to be a limiting issue sooner rather than later.

I don't think anyone has asked yet: what display are you playing on? Is it just 1080p, 60hz? If so, I question the merits of a higher end GPU. The RX 580 you picked can max out Destiny 2, Apex Legends and Warframe at 1080P/60.

If you find yourself playing a lot and willing to invest in a better experience down the road, you could get a GPU upgrade and a 1440p ultrawide or something similar. The 3600 & 16GB RAM gives you a really solid platform.

Don’t have a monitor yet, but I got my eye on the MSI Optix MAG271CR
