Help with old mb swap with cases

I currently use a acer aspire x3400g which has a odd psu 220watt and no room or power to install a video card. My dad has a Dell Dimension 4600 computer which went bad. What I was thinking about is taking everything out of the dell and installing the parts from the acer into is and just buying a new psu around 500 watts and a video card pcie x 16. The only concern is that the motherboard will not line up and that if it did the dell does not have a slot open at top for a video card. Can anyone know if this is possible I would like to spend the least amount of money if possible.

dell computers are special u cant install a motherboard other then a dell motherboard it just doesnt work. GL

A new $30 case trumps all the brainpower you will expend trying to forcefit that Acer motherboard into a Dell case.

If it is an ATX spec motherboard, yes.

The answer to your question is unfortunately no, unless you order it directly from Acer.

The form factor of that motherboard is not standard and is specific to Acer.

so Acer makes a different board for the case?

It is more like they have a deal with a particular MB Mfg. that produces a standard board with certain 'tweaks' done to it so that it fits inside a proprietary case. Usually the 'tweaks' are simply how the holes are drilled through the MB so it will screw into the case and fit it.

Sometimes however it can be how the components are arranged on the board or even the actual shape of the board.
