Help with overclocking!

Hey guys,

So I've recently been told that overclocking my CPU would help a lot with performance on my pc, I've read guides on how to do it, but I'm a complete amateur obviously so some of it I don't full understand.
I'm not sure of what to set my speeds without burning up my cpu or anything else.

I have a I7 3770k. Can anyone help?

The simplest explanation I can give is there are the 3 things you need to overclock. Voltage to get stability at higher speeds, cooling to remove the extra heat from the higher speed and Voltage, and control of multiplier, or FSB to raise speed.
If you do your cooling mods first you will get further on your first try, and are less likely to damage things.
If you just raise speed you won't get very far, and it will run hotter.
Her's an example. If you raise speed 20%, and you raise Voltage 20% you need 44% more cooling to keep the same temperature. 1.20X1.20=1.44
You will need testing software to put the CPU under load, and monitoring software to observe the temperature. If it starts to get hot you STOP!
I haven't worked with your CPU so I can't be more specific. But that's the theory behind it.
