Hi,

First post here so sorry if its in the wrong place!

My Current PC (Pre built of the internet) has started to make a lot of noise and was running quite hot, added a few fans (Which it didn't have)

http://www.ebuyer.com/138590-xilence-red-wing-80mm-quiet-fan-3-4pin-connection-xilence80

This worked well and took the temp down to around 32C, But the PSU (Cheap unbranded) in this PC is noisy and doesn't get any better the longer you have it on So i have decided to go for an upgrade, this is what I am looking at

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-166-CM&tool=3 (£10 cheaper than Ebuyer as its on promotion)

I would like some advice as to if this would be suitable for my PC, at the same time I am thinking of moving it all into a Antec SLK2650 BQE Solution Series Computer Case as I have one here not going to much use and the current case is a cheap unbranded one with not a lot of space.

- Intel Core I7 870 2.93ghz 8mb Cache (Stock Fan, I dont over-clock)
- Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm x 2
- Optical Drive - 24x DVD Writer
- 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 RAM DDR3 1333 PC10660
- Nvidia Geforce GTS 450 1GB
- Motherboard - Asrock H55M-LE
- Windows 7 64bit Pro / Xp 64bit Pro / Ubuntu
- 1 x 22" Hp L2208w
- 1 x 24" Samsung HD Syncmaster P2450
- 1 x 37" LG HD

Thanks in Advance

Cooler master are not renown gor great PSU's

I would get this its cheaper and better (xfx use seasonic to make their PSU's)

Thats more than enough wattage for your specs

If you really want modular then this though it costs a little bit more

It was modular that I'm after Have you got any suggestions for something a little cheaper more around £50

The OCZ ModXstream Pro is a good quality PSU; not the best, but it is a good blend of price/performance. The 500W version is sufficient for your build. There is a rebate on it in the US: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016&Tpk=modxstream%20pro%20500w
Amazon.co.uk has it in your price range: http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-500W-ModXStream-Power-Supply/dp/B001GLFD4U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335441845&sr=8-1

Edit: Hardwaresecrets, a reputable review site, gave it a Gold Award : http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-500W-ModXStream-Power-Supply/dp/B001GLFD4U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335441845&sr=8-1

It's simply a new EU requirement to use a limited amount of power when the system is idle. If you use a non-ERP PSU, the PC simply won't comply with the EuP/ERP standard - no big deal for you.

Installed and worked for about 4 hours (Really quietly) before tripping out, now it wont power up. Replaced with original working (noisy) PSU , powered up first time and runs fine.

Tried several kettle leads, and 2 PC's looks like this one is dead.

I have opened an E-note with ebuyer as it is a bank holiday. Will chase up tuesday, from what I can see on their website they have a exchange / refund policy once the product has been tested.

New one has turned up, It is so quiet but has managed to add 20 seconds to the boot time while it decides that I have a graphics card installed, small price to pay I guess.
