Hello, I need to setup QoS (I think) on my router for my computer. I need to do this because my two siblings are home for the summer and do nothing but stream online movies. With having pretty slow internet I dont care because I dont really stream movies however I play Counter Strike very seriously with my team, practices, matches, all of it. However whenever they are home my ping is CONSTALY spiking up to 200 while they stream. I dont want to block them from watching netflix I jsut want to make sure I can stop lagging if this is possible. Im not really sure how QoS works but I basicly just want to make sure my stuff is having prioity over them streaming without stopping them from being able to stream

This is what my QoS tab looks like, and truthfully I have no idea how to set this up. Thanks for the help in advance!

I am not going to spend the time to read the manual and then try to explain it to you. There is either a setting that you can set bandwidth for some custom group to a fixed rate or there is not.

The only way to ensure this works is to pick a number that is much higher than you game uses. Be aware this is always reserved even when you are not using the game.
QoS is one of the more advanced network topics. You need to have a excellent understanding of how data is actually transferred to really set this up.
It would take forever to explain theories like tcp window size and traffic burst rates that you need to know to really do QoS.

Still no matter what you do someone is going to get bad performance. That is all QoS does if even manage to get it configured. When you do not have enough total bandwidth QoS just makes a choice. If your link is very small you pretty much will end up blocking there ability to use netflix.

The largest issue you have is that you can't really do QoS for download. The ISP decides what to delay or discard and there really is nothing your router can do after the fact. It can not magically undelete some data and discard something else.

What you must do is trick the end device into not requesting so much data. This is why you must understand data traffic to understand how and why it works.....and those situation where it will not.

Not sure if your router has the ability define a custom download and upload rules and give your pc some fixed amount of bandwidth. You likely should set it about 2m both up and down but if you use other feature such as voice comms you will need more. Now if you only say have 3m down you will in effect block anyone else from using the connection with a rule like this.

How would I make certain things have set amounts of bandwith? I think this would be perfect solution as to what were looking for. We have a ZyXEL PK5001Z. Where in my setting should I be looking for this?
