[SOLVED] Help with RX560 error code 43.

Hello!

I recently purchased an ex-mining PowerColor RX560 4g with only dvi. It uses a 6 pin.

I won it for $10 plus $10 shipping since it has error code 43.

Although it was advertised as booting to Windows, i cannot seem to get any post with this card as the sole display adapter.

Throwing in my RX580 for a display i got to w10 and it was recognized as an RX560 but error code 43 and GPUz only shows some info.

I tried flashing several vbios versions with no positive changes. I also just repasted it.

System specs:

Ryzen 5 2600 @4.2ghz
2x8gb g.skill Aegis overclocked to 3466mhz cl18.
Msi b350 gaming plus
Corsair CX550m

Any ideas how to make it work?

How did you power it when the RX 580 was also installed? What BIOS do you have installed on it?

Likely it was mined to death, if I had to guess.
Only DVI? No HDMI or DP? Do you have a link for the actual device you have?
If you are thinking its a scam, i doubt it. The die has an AMD logo on it and there is a legit looking PowerColor sticker on the PCB.

The card was described as having error code 43 and GPUz results were even provided. It only cost me $20 once shipping is factored in.

Here is the Ebay listing:

Googling the device ID found by GPUz reveals this:

My CX550m has a cable with multiple 6+2pin connectors. I plugged one 8 pin into the RX580 and a 6 pin in the RX560. The RX560 is in my bottom x16 slot and my RX580 is in my top x16 slot.

If the RX560 is in the top slot the system won't post and has VGA Light illuminated, even if the monitor is connected into the RX580 in the bottom slot. The RX580 must be in the top slot to boot.

When the RX560 is the sole display adapter in the system (no IGPU) i get no post and VGA light. The fan just spins off an on.

I even tried this in my LEGO PC with onboard GMA graphics with my CX550m installed temporarily. I was unable to get display out of the motherboard or the GPU with this RX560 installed.

Your PSU could not power both of those devices properly. Not the issue, it would seem, but something to be aware of.
If that was the issue it would have worked without my RX580 present, which it doesn't.

I dunno the exact VBIOS on the card, but it is what it shipped with currently (restored from rom backup).

I just reflashed it with this one tho: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/194915/powercolor-rx560d-4096-170702
No change.

I guess I will resell as faulty. Well, thanks for the help anyhow!

You are welcome. I would still try an RMA. You might get lucky. Worst thing is that they say NO.

What would be a fair price for this card half working? I have $21 and change in this card and currently I have it listed at $25.

I will just say the card has no video out but shows up with error in device manager and provide a gpuz screenshot.
Other than the fan, that defective GPU has no (little) value. Personally, I would not pass on to someone else and mark it off as a loss.

I also bought an XFX RX560 2gb in box with all original accessories for $25.

It was water damaged. It arrived and looked like someone didn't even attempt to clean it as it had sticky residue on it.

No visable damage other than residue.

I gave it an alcohol scrub/soak and new paste. Paper towel to dry than air blasted it. It at first wouldn't give a display in any pc, but did display in gpuz.

Put it in my intel system. One time it just worked. Booted with cable plugged into gpu. It showed up fine.

Plug it back into amd system. Nothing. Put it into intel system pls, nothing again.

I dunno if this card wants to work or not.

I found a way to get this new card to work every time.

With the intel system off, put the RX560 GPU in but leave 6 pin disconnected. Plug monitors dvi imput into rx560 but monitors vga into motherboard.

Boot PC and it will boot on igpu through motherboard. Plug 6 pin in. Restart. Unplug vga and leave gpu plugged into monitor.

Then it will boot on the RX560 GPU over dvi the next time. But if i restart, it wont boot.

Whats up? Why?
