help with scandisc

I put together a 800 duron kt7a raid computer a couple of days ago,( running single hard drive).I ran scan disc, it took hours.AT the end of the scan the box said restarted scan 10 times, something keeps writing to drive.has anyone got any idea what is going on? Only programs in there are what is on the windows cd.

yeah that is pretty much the only way now with windows. i have so much running in the background there is always something writing to the disk. i have a similar problem with norton protected recycle bin but at least it get through.

dunno about 2k, but in win98 you can ctrl+alt+del and end task on everything by systray and explorer. Then whatever's interrupting scandisk should be gone. I had a similar problem with my zip drive watcher.

Hi all,
Could be your screen saver is coming on, this will write to the HD and restart scan disk every time. I have to always remind my wife to shut it off when we do scan disk.
