Well I didnt really know where to place this post but since the game is causing the problem I will post it here.
Ok so I just built my brother a computer and everything was working fine. He bought PotC (Pirates of the Caribbean) and attpemted to install it. It got 2% through and got a CRC error. It said this file does not match the file on the CD's setup file. The medium from which you are installing from may be damaged or corrupted. It had an ignore button so I pressed that and this error came up for almost every file. The game eventually installed after ignoring every CRC Error, then when you play for about 2 seconds it restarts the whole computer. I have all the latest drivers for my Motherboard and Video Card. I have asked a Friend and he says scan for viruses but first I dont have a virus scan program, so I went to download.com to look for Norton. I found it but when I downloaded it it would not install!! What should I do to fix these CRC errors?? By the way his computer is :

Mother Board : Gigabyte GA-7AXP K7 Triton Series

Video Card : ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

CD Drive : Sony 52x/24x/42x

CPU : AMD Barton 2500+

If you need more infomation about the computer just ask.

Check/Replace your IDE cables first off. Did you have any issues when you were installing the OS/drivers? It *could* be a dying motherboard if you're able to swap and check it.

Well I replaced the IDE cables and the problem still happens when trying to install the game. I will replace the motherboard with mine since they are the exact same and see if there is a problem there.

Ok I tried othr games every single one of them got a CRC error. I scanned for Viruses there were none. I switched the CD-ROM Drives with my other working computer. The problem still happens and does not happen on the working computer. So the drives is not the problem.
