HELP!!!!!

Hello,I recently upgrade my memory from 512mb to 2Gb. It is recognized in my BIOS, but the machine is still slow and in the system information ii says I only have 256mb

Are the two memory sticks the same make? Don't mix different sizes and brands.

Did you check the memory is compatible with the motherboard ?

Test one stick of memory at a time to see if one is faulty.

I do not thing that going to 1 mem stick is going to do you any good. If the BIOS sees it the OS should too. It can't be the mobo either because the BIOS would detect it and not boot.

What OS are you using? What I want to know is why the RAM is recognized in BIOS, and not seen by the OS.
