Hey, I am building a pc with a amd xp 2400+. Someone told me that since my CPU’s fsb is 266mhz that buying pc3200 memory would be a waste and that I should get pc2100 and save money. I will get 3200 if it is faster. Is it? Thanks in advance!!!

Ugh.... No. You don't have to run your fsb and memory synchronously if you don't want. I have a 2700+ w/ a 333 MHz FSB and I can run my memory (3200 Corsair CAS2) at 3200(400 MHz) or 2700(333 MHz). You have to make sure your mobo supports whatever settings you choose.

the big advantage in running pc3200 is overclocking.....and no just buying pc3200 over pc2100 doesnt make it faster but yet more stable and you will be able to reach higher memory clocks under stable conditions.......the most important thing you should think about is the future...and buying ddr400 memory assures you the upgradability for future dual ddr400 motherboards.....that is my 2cents worth
