I was asked by someone at work to fit them some memory in their Pc(an old compaq 233).Anyway I had 128mb pc133 left over from another project so after reading the m/b manual and finding out that the board hosts dimms I installed it,only to find that the f@#$ing machine would'nt boot into windows(95).I got a Himem error on loading,I know the memory is ok as I have tried it in my pc(1gig t/bird KT7A).
Help please would be greatly appreciated.

What type of Compaq is it? some of the older boards use FPM/EDO dimms not SDRAM.

Only the insane prosper.
Only those who prosper can judge what is sane.

Some Compaqs used proprietary memory. Your best bet is to go to www.crucial.com and use their memory selector to order the proper memory for that particular machine.

It could be one of several issues. First of all the older compaq may not support memory modules larger than 64 meg ( maybe even 32). Seconldy, Is the module you are trying to install a high density module? if so it certainly won't work.

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!
