HHelp with a graphics card

Hello all, I;m wondering whether a low profile hd radeon 5570 would work with a 300W psu. Right now im stuck with a weak 250W psu and i found a 300W psu that will fit my computer's slim case. I'm planning on buying these immediately and i've heard countless miracle stories of 5570s working with 250W psus just fine, so all i really need is some verification so i wont blow my new psu up. What if i took a step back and just went with the 5570 for now? Im not sure anything more recent than that card would be compatible anymore.

a 5xxx series and a 6xxx series have lots of similarities if one works in the slot the other will to

so what's the best card out of the 5xxx or 6xxx series i could get that's low profile and is compatible with my mobo?

i thought any bios supports any pcie graphics card, i mean its just a conduit to the cpu, and its handled by the drivers in windows

i guess its worth a try then, now the problem is finding one, the only manufacturer i know right now is HIS with this one:

in low profile card go for ati 5670 a very best card medium perfomance and low power consumption or even gts 450 is very good

I've been looking at the 5670 for awhile too, so if i cant find a 6670 then ill just go with the 5670, also one more question, since im not getting a 6670 anymore, would a dedicated 300W psu work with it? Keep in mind the gpu and psu are both for a slim pc, here's the psu i had in mind:

I would go with this one , you never know when an extra 50w is going to come in handy.

Have you tried Newegg for the 6670? There seems to be a whole page of them here.

I have a slim pc, so they wouldn't fit, and about the Athena psu, I've heard horror stories of them not giving out the required wattage for a gpu and suddenly exploding and killing it along with the mobo. I'ts been hell trying to find a low profile 6670, so right now im looking for a 5670 keep me updated if you guys find one please.

Alright so the situation is a 5570 at peak load uses between 196W and 211W. This leaves very little power for your processor and other peripherals.

Can it run it? Yes. Recommended? No.

Guru3d recommends 350W and I tend to agree with them.

That's total system power dude. If you read it it specifically says

System with GPU in FULL Stress =196W

Note the word SYSTEM and that's with a Core i7 965 @ 3750 MHz. Of course you'd know that if you looked at the test setup

Well I'm done searching for an elusive 6670 low profile but this thread helped so much, and all my questions were answered. I really appreciate all you guy's help a lot, and thank you very much.
