Hi Gurus, whats the cheapest way to cool a 2500K and crossfire r9 290s?

well you can use an aftermarket heatsink for you cpu (cooler master evo 212 is respected and on the cheaper side). The 290s hopefully you got cards with good cooler designs. I suppose you probably can find just the aftermarket coolers for the cards if you looked, you'd have to swap out the reference cooler yourself then. Beyond that you need to make sure your case has good airflow (generally speaking you intake from the bottom/front and you output from the top/back).

The other alternative would be liquid cooling.

I believe the thermal issues in using the reference cooler on the 290/290x are pretty widely known. I can imagine you're having a very hard time trying to cool two of them.

I did a quick search for aftermarket gpu coolers as just stand alone parts, I found this http://www.newegg.com/VGA-Cooling/SubCategory/ID-576

Doesn't look great to be honest with you I haven't heard of any of these companies. I would have really suggested you get good aftermarket designs when you originally purchased the cards, especially because you want to CFX.

I suppose going full liquid would be a solution, but that is pricey and labor intensive, you would really have to commit to it to cool two GPUs. Beyond that and increasing case airflow as best you can, I don't have anything else to add. Maybe someone else has another idea?

you should probably get a case with good airflow and install an extra side panel fan, thats probably the cheapest way to do it.

Try cooling it with a closed loop NZXT G10 GPU bracket with a corsair H55. That probably is the cheapest and easiest way to cool your reference 290s xfire.
