Hi I recently just built a gaming pc.

I got a steal of a deal on an i7 4790s for 28 $ cooled by a hyper 212 led.

I have a Gigabyte h97 mother board with 16 gb of ddr3 ram at 1,600 MHz AND a 500 watt psu 80 plus.

I am just wondering on what GPU would be best for my set up as I do not want to bottleneck my system.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated thank you all for reading and helping.

Solution found thanks again everyone if a moderator could close this would be great new here so dont really know the processes yet.

The term bottleneck is mostly misunderstood.
Games are not build equally.
I7 4790 Sis not a bottleneck for most of today's available games.
I7 4790S can be a bottleneck for some new cpu heavy AAA games. Moreover, The bottlenecking can also simply be ignored for now. It is not something you should be worried about.
You can take any GPU you want with your I7 4790S.

Choosing a GPU you have to think about your resolution and FPS goal. If you play on 1080p, GTX1070 is my recommendation. If you wanna spend more, GTX1080 is kinda your max without wasting too much money.
If you are on 1440p with 60 hz monitor in mind, GTX1070Ti or GTX1080 is good.
If you are on 1440p 144/165hz monitor, GTX1080Ti is good.
For 4k, 1080Ti is the minimum.

Actually, the 1080ti would be a tad too much fo the S series chip. Its is actually meant for ""Performance-optimized lifestyle - a little lower performance in exchange for lower power draw."
Upto 1080 is fine as it will only limit in rare occasions. And I think OP is not moving on to another recent platform anytime soon.

Thanks Everyone for your input really appreciated :).

I think I might go for a gtx 1080 to future proof a little bit also I am running a 144 hz monitor as well for competitive gaming.

Also I don't think I will be changing from 1080p anytime soon as I just bought this monitor now again really am grateful for everyone's help.
