high pc temps from 4790k

I had installed a hyper d92 cooler for my 4790k, and I am seeing temps of the higher 50c during idle. and worse 90C during gaming. with my older cool master cooler
which was obsolete, I never hit these temps,
I never overclock, and everything is stock on mobo

sysem specs are

4790k i7
asus maximus hero VII
asus gtx strix 980
evga 750 g2 psu

Let's do a quick check here:

Did you properly wipe off / apply Thermal Paste when putting the cooler on?

Did you properly set the Cooler

Is it actually running (It could be you never turned the case fans on..)

And How old is this Cooler? Brand New? Or A few years?
