Hello! Recently whenever gaming, my dad likes to watch YouTube and do his own thing on his computer. The issue is, while doing this, he is causing my ping to skyrocket to 200-500. My dl is 25 and upload is 2. (Centurylink) is it the fact that we are both going wireless competing for the usage, or do we have to many wireless devices running st the same time which include, 3 iPads, phones and tvs. Plus our two computers. When he isn't watching YouTube, it runs fine at 40 ping give or take. I'm wondering if a direct connection would help or a connection boost to one of the sockets on the wall? Anyone plz help, it's ruining csgo and many they competitive games for me!

Even if you modem had that feature it is not a magic bandwidth creator someone will not get the bandwidth they need. Now instead of you getting ping spikes the youtube video will stall.

Using QoS is just a electronic means of you yelling down the hall get off the internet it is affecting my game. Generally that only works when you are the person paying the internet bill.

You can try a wired connection, there is a small chance it is just wireless interference and you signal is not strong enough but it won't fix the problem if you are out of bandwidth.
Thats the issue, Ive been reading online about QOS configuration on my modem. but i cant find a decent guide on how to set this up. my Modems name is the Zyxel c1100Z if anyone looking happens to know of a guide.

Not all modem/routers have QoS capability, I believe your particular modem does though.

As for configuring QoS, you essentially set up a queue for all of the connected devices and those that are at the top will have first priority bandwidth allocation. To do this you will need to access your gateway through any browser and locate the QoS tab. Once you've gotten there you should be able to enable it and give your device high priority. To do this you will need to know its MAC address (or in some cases if its connected to an ethernet port you can just allocate high priority to that port). Conversely, you can give your dad's device low priority by using his MAC address.
