High ping within my own network?

For long time I have hosted a server for a certain game. If I connect to the server from the same computer that the server is hosted with, or using another computer on the same network, my ping is 20-40ms. The problem is that I think that unnecessary 20-40ms is also being added on top of other players' connections. So if someone would usually get 120ms delay, it would be closer to 150ms because the latency within the server's network as well adds to their delay. What can I do to reduce the latency? Apology for poor English

Solution
are you connecting locally? 192.168.x.x or another private ip.

If you connect via public ip then you may be going to the isp and back.
It's possible to use the public and not go to the isp with certain settings on a router.

Very strange

I have now pinged my own network, ping is less than 1ms. If I connect to the server from another PC in the house, the ping is still 20-30.
