I have a pacman game I bought...it's one of two games I own, the other one
is a casino game.

Neither of them store any scores. I came to the conclusion that the gameboy
either needed an additional memory card to store scores, or storing scores
just wasn't possible on a gameboy.

But after reading a post, am I right in saying that some games can store
scores on their cards, while some cannot?

Thank you,
Gary

Scores are stored on the cart itself not in the GB. Some games have a save
feature to save your progress while other games rely on passwords to mark
your progression. I have several old games that used to save scores, but
the battery has since died, so once you power down you lose all progress.
Hope this helps.

Didn't they switch to longer-lasting EEPROMs in their carts in the 90s
though? Must be some truly old software.
