Hello,
I need my laptop to run a game at 1280x1024 resolution, however the LCD screen on my Dell XPS M1530 has a native resolution of 1440x900, so I can't achieve the 1024 pixel height. How can I hack windows to allow a resolution of 1280x1024 anyway? Averaging 1024 pixels over 900 won't look that bad, I just need the game to run at that res!

Could you supply some hardware information please . If you are using a Nvidia graphics card and the Nvidia control panel is installed there are some additional and custom resolution options to choose there.

The game is age of empires 2. Nvidia custom resolution settings will NOT allow you to input a resolution that exceeds pixel dimensions of an LCD (for obvious reasons). Age of empires 2 itself will not allow me to select 1280x1024 because it is not in the list of available display modes for my adapter. What I want to do is add this resolution despite the fact that my LCD cannot display such a resolution. It is my understanding that if you force an LCD to display a resolution higher than the pixel count it will just interpolate, in the same way as when you give a resolution lower than the native.

Basically what I'd like to do is hack into windows' list of available resolutions for my display, and add a resolution that isn't there... Powerstrip also won't do this by the way because it too is limited to the max resolutions of the LCD...
