Hello everyone,

I am wanting to create a home cctv system that is networked based, but not on the internet. I want it to be a true closed circuit system. I want to use IP cameras, and a standard PC to create this. I will be watching the outside of the house at various angles. I believe I can decide with cameras to use, but with everyone wanting to connect their entire home to the internet, that is what I'm seeing as I'm looking for what I need. Does anyone have any suggestions on what software, or even OS if its not Windows based that I can use to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I plan to use wired IP cameras to do this as well.

There are all kinds of camera recording options. All depends what you actually want. I know a lot of people use a program called blue iris mostly because it is very inexpensive compared to the systems designed for business.
