I have a single BT hub4 router at home and everyone is connected to it I want to make another network like a guest network on another router, I want this router for myself so i have a solid connection while gaming. How can I make this possible.

Thanks in advance
Thanesh

You can simply purchase the router + internet connection and then connect your devices to the new router. Make sure to place them some distance apart, and if you are using Wifi only it might help if you adjust the channels that you are transmitting on. Try to choose channels that are as far apart as possible.

It will not likely solve your problem. It is highly unlikely you have exceeded the bandwidth within your house. The problem is likely you have exceeded the bandwidth you buy from your ISP. Adding another router does not solve that problem. Pretty much you would only use a second router for something like vpn. The concept of guest network does not work with consumer routers when it is not all on a single device. The only other reason to use a second router is to improve wireless coverage by using the device as a AP. I hope you are not playing games on wireless.

It may not work in a developed country with strong internet infrastructure, but for us in the developing world increasing the bandwidth from our ISP rarely provides us with a stable ping. However, purchasing a separate connection (even from the same ISP) does actually improve latency and the gaming experience.

This in no way is solving your problem
Your connection to router 2 will be solid but as soon as it connects back through router 1 you will have the same exact problem.

You first need to increase your internet bandwidht which can only be done by changing your internet plan or provider

Once that is no longer the issue then you can make your modem/router into a modem only and get a good quality router that has QoS to give your traffic priority.
As stated though, until you fix the internet bandwidth problem, doing anything with the routers will make zero difference.

I think he wants to purchase a new router, not another AP (wireless access point). Another router means a secondary internet connection with either the same ISP or another one. That can mitigate the problem.

Increasing the available bandwidth that he purchases from his ISP will not improve his QoS status with his ISP. Since he shares the current connection with family/friends and they appear to be heavy users his ISP probably places him on a lower priority tier which is why he has high latency issues.

Purchasing a secondary connection and connecting to it with another router can place him at a higher priority tier which will lower his latency issues. It is a roundabout way of fixing this but it can work.

Tanesh,

2 possible solutions to your issue

1. get a multi band (ioe 2.4 and 5ghz) Wifi router/Modem that BT permits to use on their network
2. wire another router from the first router (unless your playing wifi) is pointless and would work better with a switch.
if your on Wi-Fi, having another Wi-Fi device near you "could": improve but wont lower the traffic ping and latency your ISp provides. but you can wire a router in AP mode to bring Wi-Fi closer, doubtful any of this will improve your gaming experience.

Thanesh, at the moment we are listing solutions without knowing the magnitude of the problem. I am assuming that you have high latency issues or even a connection that drops off while you game?

Maybe if you can tell us what you mean by a "solid connection" while gaming we can better assist you. What kind of problems are you experiencing at the moment while gaming? Also, what internet connection (what bandwidth) do you currently have and how many people share this connection?
