a ssd wont do much in terms of gaming performance, it will just boost loading times. For instance a ssd will load Windows in 10 seconds, while a regular hdd may take 20-30 seconds.

In my opinion for a budget build a ssd just isnt worth it. Lets say you get a 60gb ($100) roughly. That will fit Windows and maybe 4-5 games that will load faster?

It all depends how much you want to keep your budget. But i wouldnt bother with a ssd. You computer is already going to seem like lightning compared to what you have been using anyway

You would be surprised how quick it can fill up. Especially if your playing games. One game can be from 10-20gb.

I agree you should go with a 500gb or so for now, Hard drive prices are ridiculous right now. If you feel the need for more room you can get another hard drive later

yeah £145 for a 128 gb Crucial M4

i know what you mean about expense my wife just cam over and asked how it was going i showed her the case and she couldnt believe it was costing £70 just for the case :non:

see how it goes when i put my pc up for sale and what im offered or get. then ill know my budget. however it will make a big difference selling it regardless.

I think I'll leave the thread for a few days till i know something more about selling my pc. Then ican say for definate what my new build budget is.

I never thought I was going to spend $60 USD for a case either until I saw that the trash cases with top mount PSU mounts were $40 and it isn't that big of a step up for something that is 10x better (PC-K59).

You get what you pay for. I got mine on a day in America when things get marked down for holiday shopping online (originally $100) and I was like "WOW, so this is what a real case is supposed to be like..."

It is super roomy with fans all over the place, bottom mount PSU with a filter below the PSU mount that allows air from under the PC straight into the PSU, it has cable management stuff in it (not the best but better than $40 cases have by 10x), removable drive mounts, and all that good stuff.

dvd drive - no idea

hdd/ssd - no idea

DVD Drive, get the ASUS one at the end of my signature. It is only like $19.

HD - I would go with a non-Hitachi 500gb.

SSD = Crucial and Samsung are the best players in this game. I would go with the Crucial M4 if I were you.
