Hi,

My current situation means that the my router must be on the lowest floor in my house, which is not great as my room is three floors above that. It's pretty manageable at the moment because a few years ago I ran a Ethernet cable through from the router to the top of the house, so any downloading I do I use the wired connection which I permanently have connected to my PC.

Other devices can still usually connect but because the connection is fairly weak it means any downloading or streaming etc. takes a big hit. The solution I have came to for this is to share the connection from my PC which is wired, using a USB wireless network adapter and then have all my other devices connect to the new shared network rather than trying to connect to the router all the way downstairs.

I managed to get this to work and the results were very positive, it pretty much tripled both my download and upload speeds meaning all of my device will make full use of the internet I'm paying for. I got this to work so far using a program called Virtual Router, which is what has lead me here, I'd much rather not use any software if possible, going off what I have said can any of you advise me on how to go about setting up my PC to automatically share my wired connection wirelessly without me having to configure anything whenever I restart my PC?

Thanks for the reply, but I'm really trying to get this done using the hardware I already have, I understand that might not be possible without using some kind of software, but I'm really looking for a solution that uses the network sharing features to achieve that same results as something like connectify or the virtual router software that I mentioned in my original post.

thanks man, I've already tried that and it did indeed work, but for some strange reason now it keeps failing to launch properly no matter what I do, I've uninstalled it, ran as admin etc. which has lead me to trying to find an alternative.
