Question How bad is it to be running a 2070 Super + Ryzen 7 5700X3D on a 600W PSU ?

I have seen some talk that running your pc on a lower PSU than the minimum can cause damage. I have a 600W PSU and have been having some issues with heating. Mainly due to the case being awful. I just upgraded to the 2070 Super and Ryzen 7 5700X3D beginning of January. Have I damaged my pc hardware? Should I prioritize buying a new PSU over a new case? If so what is a recommended PSU.

The recommended PSU for a 2070S is 650W. You are just under. While it's unlikely you have done any damage, I strongly recommend getting a good quality, higher capacity unit. The PSU is the heart of your system and should be near the top of the system budget.

It depends on what 600W PSU you're referring to, because it might be okay and it might not. The 2070 Super and 5700X3D aren't high power components but the PSU does need to be a decent one.

What is the make/model of your current 600w PSU?
How old is it?
Under powered might be OK, but a poor or old psu can damage other parts if it should fail under load.

What is the make/model of your current case?
What is so awful about it that you want to change it out?

Can you afford to do both?

And... FWIW userbenchmark is considered by many as junk science.

What are the issues with heating? Is your computer throttling or shutting down? We see so many people thinking they have overheating issues but when they post the actual temperature numbers it's totally fine. And if you really have temp issues, replacing the PSU will unlikely solve it. That being said, I would personally not run with a PSU that is below the recommended wattage. I prefer to have some headroom just in case.

And as others said, the wattage is far from being the only important information when we talk about a PSU. The quality of the unit is also extremely important so you should always give the brand and model when asking a question about a power supply.

And I wanted to say the same as geofelt: UserBenchmark used to be a useful site (many years ago) but it's now a total joke. Some people think that the guy who runs it just completely lost his mind. There are many videos on YouTube about that. Here's one
