I have an intel i3 3220 at 3.3 ghz at the moment. I'm looking to buy an EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0 4GB. How much would my processor slow my gpu?

I'd for sure be looking for an affordable/compatible i7 to drop in with it to enjoy 1080P goodness, depending on which games you wish to play; the i3 does ok with older games, but, 2c/4t can cause issues with newest titles....

Well they were released within a couple years of each other, but the 700-series or 600 series gpus are closer.
I'd say an i5 is the minimum for not bottle necking a GTX __70 card.

Your processor will bottleneck the gpu. Running modern titles with only 2 cores will be very hard. What’s your budget for a new cpu/mobo?you can try to get the i7 3770 which will be a less of a bottleneck and will improve performance if you don’t want to spend too much
