Question How big is the differemce between CL30 and CL36 latency ram in gaming?

I will build my first pc, but i do need to choose the components first. The specs are Ryzen 7600, RX 6800 xt, 32 gb of ram.

I might sound dumb, but aesthetics are important to me, since i'm not gonna be upgrading for a long time. I could go with a corsair 32gb 6000 MT/s CL36 latency RGB ram. I found a different 6000 MT/s CL30 ram used for about the same price, but that doesn't have RGB. Is there a huge difference between the two, or are people exaggerating it?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Ryzen always liked tight timing, high frequency rams, in dual channel. I would opt for the tighter kit when looking at DDR5-6000MHz rams. Mind passing on a link to the ram you're looking at? You should look into ram kits that are either in the motherboard memory QVL or have AMD's E.X.P.O feature on the package(or are certified to run them).

Thanks for the response
These are the two i was talking about. Both of them are EXPO certified.

There is no definitive answer since it depends on the game. In general it is very small difference many times you can't tell unless you have a frame counter on your screen.

There are a couple youtube videos that compare different memory speeds and latency. Not sure if the exact example you have is covered but you should get a idea. I think the main thing it makes a difference in is things like file compression programs like zip.
