CPU: AMD FX-6300 (possible OC to 4.5?)
MOBO: ASUS M5A78L-M LX3
RAM: 8GB DDR3-1866 2x4GB
GPU: XFX Radeon R9 280X Black Edition 3GB
HDD: Toshiba 1TB SATA 6 gb/s 7200 rpm
CASE: Sharkoon MA-W1000

your wildly overestimating the power draw mate,at 4.6ghz full load on all cores ( & that takes a big voltage increase to 1.475/1.5v) the max itll pull is around 140w.the gigabyte will just about cope with those kind of overclocks.
I honestly dont recommend anyone going past 4.2ghz on a 6300 on any board personally, once you start getting to needing 1.4v & over its a pointless performance to temps & power draw ratio.
4.1/4.2 keeps the chip nicely to the same 125tdp the 8 core chips are specced at & is a safer option with a still decent performance improvement.Enought to power even a gtx 970 anyways.

it supports 1600mhz ram natively mate ,you dont have to mess with any settings in bios.
buy 1600mhz cas 9 & there will be no performance difference in gaming compared to 1866.

I'm not estimating, I've actually measured the peak power dissipation of 2 separate FX-6300's on 3 separate AM3+ motherboards at all sorts of clock speeds and voltages (from ~1.0V ~3ghz all the way to 1.55V@5ghz+). That includes testing on the GA-78LMT-USB3.

You're the one who is wildly under-ESTIMATING.

It doesn't support anything above 1333mhz. I just checked and my RAM is only at 1333mhz and I have Ripjaws 1600mhz. the website says so too, unless I have to change the bios manuall y to support 1600 then it doesnt.

What motherboard are you talking about here?

GA-78LMT-USB3?

The current shipping version and latest BIOS of the GA-78LMT-USB3 supports memory multipliers all the way up to 2400MT/s.

An XMP profiled memory speed on your ripjaw kit is not automatically going to be dialed in by a chipset that doesn't support XMP profiles. Speeds and timings have to be manually adjusted on a 760G motherboard if you want more than 1333MT/s with most kits.

SOME memory kits, (specific example would be Curcial Ballistix Sport), actually have 1600-9-9-9 speeds/timings programmed to the SPD table in EEPROM, and will run at that speed by default on almost any motherboard as long as the BIOS supports the 1600MT/s multiplier.

you DO have to set it yourself in bios mate
set ram speed to manual, then on the drop down box change to 800/1600mhz
it defaults to 1333 max - it can be changed without touching the northbridge or fsb settings.

there are 3 revisions of this board ,Ive used the blue one (first revision) & the black & silver one (latest revision) , not seen the brown one - 1600mhz ram works on both those 2 though & im pretty much 99.9999% certain that the middle revision will be the same.
check your spd timings manually in cpu z too, you may or may not have to enter these manually - I only built one with this board 2 weeks ago & cant even remember in any detail now ;-/
fairly sure I used corsair dominator 1600mhz & it picked it up automatically now I think about it.
In the past it hasnt with g.skill ripjaw & kingston hyper x

edit - exactly what mdocod said above me :heink:

You would have to be pushing silly voltages to pull over 200w on a 6300 mate is all im saying,Ive always said stick to stock voltage or a tiny bit higher & any 125w compatible board will have no trouble at all with a 6300 at max clock speed stable at that voltage.

Your PC will do fine without the 280x, If you have the money then I would definitely say go for it you will get at least a 15fps difference

that entirely depends on game & settings mate - I would say more like 8-10fps at high/ultra settings - It can make the difference in some games though

Yeah, I feel like crap...*Facepalm*

sooo to build this far
cpu: AMD FX-6300
mobo: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
ram: 8GB-Kit G.Skill Sniper PC3-12800U CL9-9-9-24 (DDR3-1600)
gpu: XFX Radeon R9 280X black edition
case: Sharkoon MA-W1000
hdd: Toshiba 1TB sata 6gb/s 7200 rpm
psu: Enermax NAXN Advanced 550W ATX 2.3

how does it sound like now? and thank you guys for help this far! :)

Looks like a couple of pros put it together 😀

yep 😀 thanks again!

MDNO - thoughts on a cooler ? - the stock amd one is fairly rank mate to be honest - the noise alone will spoil the build.
On the overclocking side I would honestly recommend you look at a max of 4ghz to begin , normally achievable on stock voltages on a decent chip - power draw & temperatures remain prety much in check at that speed & it will easily run a 280x at full tilt. (check those few benches I put on the other thread you made before it got taken over by 'Links' - they were done on a cheap asus board at 4ghz & pushed a gtx 970 fine.

Changing the RAM to 1600mhz didn't work. My OS didn't (And couldn't) even boot. Any thoughts?

I've got a problem/question. Does PCI-E 2.0 6+2 (8)Pin connector (Enermax NAXN adv 550w got two that kind of connectors) fit that XFX Radeon R9 280x? There's a pic of plugs in R9 280x .http://cdn.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/XFX-R9-280X-DD-BE-OC-12.jpg
sorry for offtopic

yes mate ,absolutely fine.

I thought I could survive for a little time with stock cooler and later I'd buy for example Antec Kühler H2O 650 and OC then.

excellent! thanks m8!

did you manually alter timings from the cpu-z spd tab (may need the voltage changed too - never had to do this though from what I remember )

as in this tab (obviously dont copy my timings use your own)

& I know that tab shows max bandwidth 667
but the memory tab show clearly running at the 1600mhz tab settings & latencies

this is corsair xms3 1600mhz cas 9
