Hi! I'm building my own desktop and i wonder how can i choose my case? I am very new to these stuffs. This is my first time building my own desktop.

So far this is what i choose:

Mobo : Asus maximus VI Formula
CPU : Intel Core i7-4770K quad core
Heatsink : Cooler Master GTS V8
RAM : CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16gb (2x8Gb) DDR3 1866MHz

Is there any problem with these specs? What case should i choose for my desktop? (Prefer Cooler Master).

EDIT: I'm building this for gaming mainly. I'm still finding a good GPU also i will just stick with the air cooling:)

Solution

AIO = Better temps
GTS V8 = better look

Edit: Keep in mind a heavy cooler may stress your motherboard.

Someone may be able to tell you 100% but I have that board, CPU. The RAM is supposed to go in slot A1 and B1, 1st and 3rd, and the tall memory may interfere with the CPU cooler. I had a Hyper 212+ evo that didnt fit without pushing the ram slightly sideways so I got a closed loop cooler to avoid that.

As for the Case any ATX case you like will work. I've heard good things about the HAF X, I have the HAF 932 and love it. They're full tower, or the storm Enforcer/Scout if you want mid tower.

As i said, I'm pretty new with these thing. My budget would be around 80~100 ( can be a bit more expensive). I think liquid cooling is harder to assemble. That's why i prefer air cooling. Also do you guys have any idea for my build? There are some parts that i want to get and other parts you guys can give me some ideas.

Mobo : ASUS Maximus VI Formula
CPU: i7 - 4770k 3.5Ghz Quad core
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16Gb 1866 or 1600
GPU: GeForce GTX 780

These parts above are things that i really want to get for my build. Can you guys give me some idea of the full build? Thank you for answering me :)

(Sorry for bad English :( )

Which ever one has lower CAS, Do you really need a $300 motherboard?

I will be playing games a lot so i did a bunch of search and that motherboard got many positive feed back and that's why i choose it. I don't really know the worth of it. So what do people do on that mother board mostly?

That motherboard is for hardcore overclocking, for gaming and normal overclocking try one of these:

So far this is my build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2TwRY

I will consider those motherboard that you mentioned. The problem that i've got now is choosing the power supply, optical drive and the case. Do you think the mid tower is good? Should replace the original fan case with better fan case? My budget for the whole build is around $2000, it can be more expensive, money is not a serious thing to consider because i'm gonna use this build for a pretty long time so i really want to get a decent quality.

Sorry for asking too many questions in one thread :(

Case: Something with High air flow like the one you have now.
Optical Drive: If all you want is a DVD drive any cheap one will do (All of them are good nowadays)
PSU: Anything from Seasonic, XFX and Corsair but stay away from their CX series.
More Fans?: Yes more fans that case only comes with one it looks like.

GPU: The one you picked doesn't have that good of cooling
SSD: OCZ are pretty bad, atleast the all the ones I have had and that one didn't have that good of reviews.
HDD: Cheaper and faster
CPU: I7-4770k and I5-4670k will do be the same gaming, I7-4770k is better for video editing.
RAM: 16GB isn't needed but it's a good idea.
I would still look in to a cheaper motherboard.

And questions are good, the more the better.

About the GPU, how about this one? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-03gp42784kr It has 2 fans so maybe it has better cooling system or it's the same?

SSD, do you know which one is good out there? I'm very confused when i search for a good SSD. They said the samsung is good but i don't like that brand very much but if it's good then i will get it :D

HDD, how about this one? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st2000dm001

CPU, wow i thought i5 can not handle heavy games welp. you saved for me a lot of money there :D

About the case fan, so do you think the original case already had a good cooling system? or i have to get more?

Thank you for answering me :)

EDIT: Oh you did recommend me the SSD and HDD lol. The case actually doesnt have the optical driver slot so i don't need it. Thank you very much

Better than the 1st one, the 1st was a blower style GPU, blower style is louder, hotter and blows air out side of the case, which is very good for a small case/bad air flow.
Blower style is easy to tell, normal one fan (in the back) and closed case so you can't see the heat sink.
More on Blower style: https://teksyndicate.com/forum/gpu/gpu-cooling-blower-style-vs-dual-fan/136628

SSD:I don't like Samsung too much either but they are the king when it comes to SSDs.
Best for your money February 2014: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-recommendation-benchmark,3269-3.html

HDD: Seagate Barracuda, Western Digital Blue and Western Digital Black are all very good drives for gaming, Western Digital Green is low power, low RPM, good for storage but if it's not cheaper... there's not much point.

CPU: I7-4770k has Hyper-threading which is great IF the programs are programmed for hyper-threading and games aren't.
What is hyper-threading: http://youtu.be/wnS50lJicXc

CPU Cooler: After looking at the size of the CPU cooler (6.5") and the case maximum CPU cooler height (6.4") it will not fit sadly.
Case: http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=10014
Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608041&clickid=3IwXWQ0Bd3E3UOk2zg3R1VjeUkTUlXV9L0juUc0&iradid=97618&ircid=2106&irpid=79301&nm_mc=AFC-IR&cm_mmc=AFC-IR-_-na-_-na-_-na

Case fan: Case only comes with 1 fan, get 2 of these: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-case-fan-r4s2s124kgp (Yes, I know it is a 4-pack that's why I said get 2 same as 8)

Case color: Black (Goes better with Red)

CPU cooler: I still think a AIO is better: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermaltake-cpu-cooler-clw0223 but I wont force you, The Cooler Master GTS V8 will fit: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rrv8vc16prr1

The liquid cooling, is it just the fan and 2 pipes? i thought liquid cooling is a lot more complicate ( the radiator, all the pipes goes around the case and you have to fill steel water or some sort of cooling water inside).

I like the GTS V8 cause it look beast but if the AIO you mentioned is not that complicate then i will goes for it.

Custom loop cooling is what are were thinking of. the AIO will work in your case. But the GTS V8 would look so freaking cool in your case.
