I put a hard drive out to my sister's computer into one of my computers. When I got it started, it just had a copy of windows xp with service pack one. I have a copy of service pack 3 that I put on one of my other computers. I tried to install the service pack 3 on her hard drive and it said, you have to have service pack 2 before you can install the service pack 3. I been searching and haven't found a copy anywhere. Help on this would be appreciated. Thanks for any help on this. Chuck

I tried that and found out the it is only for IT Professionals and Developers. Thanks for the help anyway. I think that the only way for me is to find someone that has a copy. Thanks again. Chuck

That link takes you to a file you can download and run locally on your pc to upgrade it to Service Pack 2. You're quite correct, it is targetted at IT Professionals and developers. These people benefit twice. First from being able to pull apart the update and create a custom configuration suitable for deployment within their network and secondly, saving internet bandwidth because it's deployed from within their network. These are both options you don't get from an internet update.

Having said that, the update can be downloaded and used as is by anyone running Windows XP to update their PC regardless of whether they are running XP Professional OR Home OR Media Center .

Sorry for taking so long to get back, I had forgotten what the thread was about.

I try all the things and still nothing worked. What I am going to try is this, I am going to make a ghost image of one of my other computer that has service pack 3 and see if I can install it on that computer.

I think that I have found the answer to my problems with the reboot on service pack 3 problem. It is a this site; http://www.tipandtrick.net/windows-xp-sp3-bsod-endless-reboot-loop-with-stop-c0000139-on-gdi32dll-error/ I hope that this works for me and any other person that is having the same problem. I will repost if this takes care of my problem. Thanks for all the help on this. Chuck

I have found the solution for the problem that I was having loading the service pack 3. I tried what was in that last link that I posted and couldn't get it to work for me. I did find that was the problem. I copied a newer version of the file and pasted it into C:\windows\system32 where the other file was. There was just a little different version of the two files. Thanks for the help on this and the comments that were posted. Chuck
