I'm sorry if this is actually in another section or anything, but I think my situation is unique. I'm moving into my dad's house soon about 15 miles away, and he lives in the country. There is absolutely no internet access, so this morning I was trying to find 15 mile cables if you can believe it when I stumbled upon all these things about how to steal a neighbor's internet or how to get internet 15 miles away, but nothing for a novice. What I need to know is what I need, how to set it up etc. for a complete internet novice. I am willing to spend a few hundred dollars, and it can be illegal or legal, it doesn't matter where I live. Thanks.

I'm learning more as I search, but I still haven't found clear answers. An expert or someone knowledgeable with these things would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Depending on your local suppliers, an internet connection can be found even in challenging areas -- by phone (might be slow if distance from exchange is great) tv cable (unlikely) mobile phone network (expensive) or power lines (worth enquiring).

I would speak to neighbours in the location and see what they do for internet and speak to the utility companies.

I think your idea of a 15 mile cable of your own is a bit impractical and wireless over that distance is highly improbable. Even if you could connect illegally to a neighbour's system, they'd probably have wireless security switched on.
