Hello! I have a gigabyte 6bxds (dual & scsi) and I've tried to overclock my PIII450, this MB comes with a swith to change the multiplier and overclock the processor, but I change this switches to all positions and nothing happens! the only thing I can change is the FSB multiplier. Please tell me what must I do to change the speed of my dear PIII.
bye & thanks.

Hi,

Unfortunately Intel went and ruined everyones fun and for the last X years you cannot change the multiplier on a standard retail processor - your 450PIII included.

The only thing to do is to rack up your FSB as far as your CPU and system will take it. I would guess your RAM will be the first to complain.

Depending on the granularity of your FSB settings - you'll squeeze a few more cycles out of your system - but you will probably need to increase your cpu voltage to maintain stability (although some systems work fine without).

As always monitor you temps and make sure you are not prematurely cooking anything!

Good luck,

Pete.

Try setting it to 133FSB Many of the Katmia core PIII's can still do 600. You may need to raise your voltage slightly to get it stable. And if you aren't already using PC133, I suggest you get some now while it's cheap.
