Question how come adding out fans on top of the case increase the temperature?

I have a new Lian Li Lancool 3 case, currently using the stock 4 fans (3 front for intake, one rear), the GPU and CPU temp avg at around 65 c when gaming, but max CPU temp can go into the 80s (My CPU cooler is DeepCool Assassin 4. ). I would like to bring that down more by adding 3 more 140mm fans on the top. Ideally I don't want my max temp to go beyond the 70s.

However I checked someone using the same case testing out fan configuration, and adding those 3 top out fans actually increased temperature by 1-2 degrees, in addition to obviously increasing the noise level.

Is this normal? In fact, just about every other fan configuration on top of the existing setup doesn't do much to bring down temperature, if not increasing it more. I just want to know what more I can do with air cool solutions to decrease the temperature.

Thanks!

the only way this would be possible is if the top is exhausting the cooler air that is brought in before it actually gets a chance to cool anything.

the negative air pressure would be causing all of the intake air to be immediately exhausted before it actually comes in contact with any of the heated components.
a channel of the cooled air gets created so that it cannot permeate throughout the case.
then the warmed areas just recycle the same already heated air and the temperatures continue to rise.

that makes sense! Could this be alleviated if I get 2 fans instead of 3 to create a balanced intake vs exhaust state, and placing them towards the end of the top case to give some room for the cool air to circulate a little?

I would add to what the namesake of one of my fav drummers of all time posted, to avoid that possibility, start with 1 or 2 top fans, and place them as far to the rear as they can go. Monitor temps and see if the cool air is getting far enough in to cool.

sweet, that's what I thought too. Thanks I will give this a try!
