How Do I Change My IP Address? Please help! Someone is DDOS attacking me.

I am wondering how to change my internet IP address as someone is DDOS attacking me on a daily basis. I have tried all the ipconfig stuff, and unplugged my modem for an hour. Not sure what to do at this point. Plugging my PC directly to the modem changes my IP, but then when I plug my PC back into my router, it changes back.

About the only thing you can do is use the router's UI to formally release/renew the DHCP lease. But that's never a guarantee. It's still possible the same public IP will be assigned, esp. the short the time between release and a new DHCP request.

So you don't really have control of your public IP. You’ll probably have to contact the ISP to deal w/ this situation. He may be able to simply blacklist that public IP for a period of time.

How have you come to the conclusion that someone is DDoS-ing you?

First, make sure you know it's a ddos attack, second, changing your internal IP will do absolutly nothing to stop an attack, unless it is being sent directly to that ip in your router (technially they'd have to be on your router. My best reccomendation would be to contact your ISP and ask them to renew your IP. I host gameservers so this happens often, I use subdomains so when my ip changes I can just switch the ip the subdomain routes to.
