Question How do I check if my PC has a TDP limit?

i have an HP EliteDesk 705 G4 SFF with a Ryzen 3 pro 2200G, and I want to figure out if my system has any kind of TDP or power limit. I checked in the BIOS and didn't find anything related to power limits or TDP settings.

Are there any software tools or tests I can run to check if my system enforces a TDP cap? Would monitoring power usage under load give me a clear answer, or is there another way to confirm?

Any advice would be appreciated!

If Dell did implement a TDP limit on the platform it would have to be on a BIOS level and with a product from HP's segment of it's prebuilt, I doubt they'd leave it in the BIOS for users to tamper with as that can lead to user's claiming warranty unnecessarily when things go South.

In all honesty, the APU you have shouldn't be under a TDP limit, maybe a VRM limit on the motherboard if the prebuilt is being subjected to abnormal operating temperatures(arid climate) but beyond that a 65W APU won't be crippled by the brand, per my educated guess.

Perhaps see if the prebuilt is pending any BIOS updates to unlock the TDP manipulation(down to a lower number) in BIOS.

Monitoring under load would be the simplest, but you also have to make sure you have thermal headroom, so test without the case on. Compare it to someone with the same processor using a retail board and you would have an answer.

2200G should be something like 55 watts max, even with its 65W TDP. I would think the board could handle that still.

The board looks to have 4 VRM phases for the CPU, may even be more like 2+2 with two sets of VRM chips in parallel. Sub 5 amps at 12V, which is not a lot for 4 VRM chips.

i bought this pc to play some light games on it, I’d be disappointed if it has a tdp limit since that would reduce performance a lot. i just want to confirm whether it’s being restricted so i know what to expect
