[SOLVED] How do I find a compatible modern cooler for older mobo?

I have the Asus Rampage V Extreme mobo and according to PCPartPicker, the Asus ROG Strix LC 360 should be compatible.

Sadly, it does not work. My CPU heats up to 97 degree less than a minute according to my BIOS, and when the temp is high, the whole BIOS menu became super slow.

I know that I did connect and setup my cooler exactly as described in the manual. When I asked Asus support, they said that it is not in the supported list.

So, is PCPartPicker lied? And not reliable?

Anyone knows which cooler / new modern cooler that works for this old mobo? Will liquid cooler works for this?

Thanks.

You have something installed incorrectly, or that pump is not working. It could be as simple as forgetting to remove the plastic cover, or film, on the bottom of the water block, a connection not plugged in properly, or too tight of mounting pressure, bowing the motherboard. Their manual clearly states standoffs, for LGA 2011-V3, in the parts list. Make sure you used the right standoffs, as well.

So if it is listed for the socket, it should work? There is no specific CPU Fan port needed?

My mobo doesn't have RGB header port. Does is matter? I assume I don't need it for the cooler to work.

Currently they RGB cables just hanging and not plug to anything.

I also see CPU fan speed error.

I guess the liquid cooler must be defective.

RGB is not needed for fan and pump operation but the must be working properly for cooling and MB operation. Most MB wouldn't even start without a working fan connected to CPU_FAN header
According to https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...120/Q15525_ROG_STRIX_LC_SERIES_QSG_V2_WEB.pdf
there is a *1 x 3-way Fan cable in the kit which should connect all 3 radiator fans and i would connect that to CPU_FAN header on the MB.

Pump cable should be connected AIO-Pump header on the MB (if it exists) or any CHA_FAN header that can be configured in BIOS to run full speed all the time.

You can gain some RGB lights control on pump if you connect included 1 x Micro USB cable between pump and any available USB port on MB.
For fan RGB control I'm afraid you need a dedicated RGB controller that doesn't depend on MB to function. They usually come with own remote.

Thanks for the info. Have tried everything and CPU still heats up to 97 degrees Celsius. I can just assume the pump isn't working.

Going to get a heatsink cooler and see if that works.
