How do I find my HD characteristics

Is there a utility or other means of finding the characteristics of my hardrive (physical speed, transfer rate, etc.). The customer support for my system is really lacking.

I think that Norton System Utilities (Works?) has a utility to provide you that information. I don't know of any freebees.

Not that I know of. Save yours self some time and just open the case. All the info you'll ever need should be printed on top of the drive.

If it's a branded system, just find out what drive it is (through programs or tech support) and look it up on the drive manufacturer's web site.
