How do I install OS on SSD, and everything else on a HDD

A buddy of mine is looking to build a new system and recently heard about the benefits to having an SSD as a boot drive, so he went out and bought a 120 gb one, i believe. But, after looking forever on the internet, he hasnt found out how to install Windows 7 and some games and programs he uses frequently on the SSD, while storing everything else, such as music, movies, other programs not used much, on an HDD. So, anyone wanna explain it to me?

Moving your music and movies is trivial; just save them to the D drive.

Programs, however, are another story. Some offer you the choice of installing on another drive, but others do not.
