Question How do I install this

I'm upgrading from a zotak gtx 970 to a msi 2060 gaming Z. The 970 had two 8 slot cables leading to the power supply but the 2060 has one 8 slot spot. Do I need to use.a different cable or can i just plug one in and let the other hang?

Was your previous card this Zotac 970? If so that is one beastly 970, must of ran quite cool.

You need to use the PCI-E/PEG connector. Which PSU do you have ? Are you sure the GTX 970 requires TWO 8-PIN power connectors ?

Nope. I think it requires 2 x 6-pin cables, not two 8-PIN, as told by the OP. I thought he is talking about 2 8-PIN cables, or maybe the 6+2 pins combined together ?? IDK.

the old card had 2 8 pin cables (seperate) leading to a single bigger cable in the pci slot, before both of the 8 pin ends were in the 970 but only the "6" slots were in and the other "2" slots attached were not in the 970. my new card has only one 8 slot spot. so i weant to know do i need to change this cable for one with only one end or do i plug ion one of the 8 slot end into it and let the other hang?

Yea your going to use that 6+2 connection to make the 8pin for the new card.

Just tuck it in somewhere or remove it from the PSU.

the old 970 used 12 pins out of them 8 and had 2 seperate cables with 6+2's so now i took the card out and theres a wire with two 6+2 and they lead to the same wire thats inserted into the psu
