How do I permanently set a certain audio device to be the default when the computer is turned on?

Just as the thread says. I am running windows 8 with external speakers. Please help.

Depending on the player it could vary but generally in the player preferences dialogue box you'll have an option to default that device based on file file formats.

Go to control panel>Hardware and Sound>Manage Audio Devices. Then you will see the various audio devices and choose the device you want to set default.

I do that everyday but it never sticks when i turn off my computer.
