trying to connect kids game system with red, yellow and white to new tv, tried converter box with cable says "weak signal." How do I program TV to assign yellow to green and operate as such?

Solution
You can't. Not that I've ever seen. I think I ran across one TV that was setup in such a way that allowed you to use one of those component inputs as a composite input, but you couldn't use all of the component inputs like that. (I also don't remember anything about the TV, or which color you used.) If you need a composite input then you need to use one of those. Why didn't the converter box work?

That depends on the specific TV.
Actual instructions would be in the user manual.

I've seen TV's where the component was configurable to be composite. Sort of.
But the red/white audio? No.

Echoing above. Look in the TV's manual for details of its inputs and the way you select which input set is being displayed. SOME TV's are built to allow you to choose whether one particular Component Video (3 sockets) set can be used as a Composite Video input on ONE of those three. IF you have that, then the red and white stereo audio signals from the game system would go to a similar audio input set on the TV.
