Let me start off by saying sorry if i chose the wrong category Systems was the best one i could find for rooting tablets. Ok well i just got me a new tablet its a Dell venue 8 3830 Android 4.4.2 KitKat and I have looked on google and couldn't find much to help me I did find this tho (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681783) but i thought i was a little tech savvy but what that link showed me was a bunch of gibberish if there is someone who knows or has successfully rooted a dell venue 8 3830 4.4.2 please give me step by step instructions instead of sending me to a link please

I did not know it was illegal to root or jailbreak a tablet that i payed hard earned money for even if my reasons for rooting the tablet are purely just for customization and to use apps that need a rooted device that could be downloaded off of the android app store

So does this mean that something i payed for in full isn't truly owned by myself but owned by another organization because I am not allowed by law to alter or customize a product sold to me by google/dell which on the other hand google actually promotes creativity and customization of there products

You are not permitted to bypass DRM, except for very limited cases in certain countries. If Dell sells you a tablet that does not allow you to have root access to the kernel and uses software to enforce that, it is illegal for you to bypass it. The analogy is to lockpicking. Dell has sold you a device that has certain functionality locked away so that you may not access it without their permission. Nowhere did you purchase the right to break that lock, and you implicitly agreed that you wouldn't break it in purchasing the machine with the software on it. If you don't like it, return it and do some research on what tablets don't prevent you from being able to have root kernel access.

I understand that in a way i just thought that in purchasing a piece of technology without signing any papers made that piece of technology mine as a whole not as a part meaning i own all of it including the software installed on "that" piece of technology and only that piece of technology as in i own the software on my tablet but i do not own the software on others that use the same software programing but i get your point but still why make a law against something like that when no one ever gets convicted and charged for something like that it shouldn't even be a law. If i want full functionality of my device i should be allowed it I payed for it, I didnt sign any papers, and i wasnt told by the business that sold it to me that it was illegal or to read the terms now back to the lockpicking I was sold that lock without a key just because i dont have the key i still own the lock making it legal for me to pick it do you see locksmiths going to jail because there picking locks that isnt theirs or the owners of the lock because they hired a locksmith. Im not mad at you just letting you know. Emotions get lost and confused in text Im just aggravated in the legal logistics of technology.
